I suffered from malnutrition by the time I came to Shammah Orphanage Home (SOH). We could not get enough food and sometimes went without. Bonitas is my brother and we are three brothers in the family. My younger brother is staying with one of my uncles.

My father died in April 2000 and my mother died in June 2002 of HIV infections. Jackton Indakwa at the home is my younger brother. After the death of our parents, we experienced lack of school fees, food and clothing. We were staying with our only uncle who had his own four kids. The man was not employed, so many times we did not have food and were not going to school. We heard about SOH through a friend of the family who informed us that they could get us some help. My life changed a lot because I was able to get what I needed, like fees, food, shelter and clothing. I'm the oldest at the orphanage.

Dream: I would like to be a lawyer, and help many orphans from our village.

My father died in 2004 but my mother is still alive. There are 8 in our family; 2 boys and 6 girls. We always had problems like not having enough food, clothes and school fees. Right now, I'm so happy because I'm at SOH where all my needs are taken care of.  At SOH we are always reminded that we are important and that God has a plan for us.

Dream: When I grow up, I want to be a teacher and tell others about God.

My father died in 2004 and my mother died early this year of 2006. They died of HIV/AIDS. There are two boys in the family. My brother is at home with one of my uncles. When I came to SOH I had many problems. Our uncles took all our land and left us without any care, and we could not grow food for ourselves. We heard about SOH through friends and when I visited them, they took me in. I thank God for everything. I pray that God may continue helping us so that my brother who was left behind can come because he doesn't get good care.

I was brought to SOH by some people who collected me on the streets. My mother died and I had no father. (mother was a single mother) She died from HIV AIDS. Food, clothing and upkeep was difficult so I was thrown to the streets. I hear I was taken to a police station by people. The police took me to the people who help children. I was so happy when I learnt that SOH had accepted to take me in. I thank God for helping me.

My father died and our mother ran away from us. We lived with our aunt for some time but she was always struggling to get us food. Most of the time we had no food and other things we needed. I was so happy when staff from SOH came and asked us to join the children at SOH.

Father died of HIV-AIDS. I was not able to get an education and other basic needs after his death. My mother only had a small bit of land for her for farming. I was happy when I heard about SOH through a Pastor from our area. I'm also very happy that they took me in.

My father died in 2004 (from HIV-AIDS). By that time, he had already separated with my mother and so we were left alone. We were staying with our grandmother to take care of us. The food often got finished and we could go without for days. My brother Peter had grown very weak by the time we heard about SOH. We are happy to be at SOH together. Our aunt told us to go to SOH. We went to check and got accepted. Our aunt was too poor to help us.

My parents died from HIV-AIDS related infections. I was picked from the street by police and put in a rehabilitation centre, we had not enough food and clothing because there are many children there. I was so happy when I was brought to SOH. I have a Daddy and a Mom here, and they just love me. I went through very hard situations like sleeping on the street and going without food. I feared very much for my life.
